Biography- Mr. Don Struve

 

Mr. Don Struve graduated from high school in Audubon, Iowa in 1968. He then

attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri and

received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Education.

 

Mr. Struve then chose to become a professional trumpet player as well as an

arranger/composer and spent twenty five years "on the road". He traveled well

over one million miles before he decided to leave the road and go into the

teaching profession.

 

In 1994, Mr. Struve became the band director in Walnut, Iowa and remained

there for eight years before he chose to come to Manning- where he has been for

the last six years. Though Mr. Struve teaches in Manning, he currently resides

in Elk Horn, Ia. which is 23 miles to the south of Manning. This year, with the whole

grade sharing, Mr. Struve will be the Junior High Band Director in Manilla on Tuesdays

and Fridays at 2:45 p.m. until the end of school, and is the full time High School Band

Director in Manning with classes at 8:30 a.m. first semester and 11:38 a.m. second

semester. All extra time is spent with individual lessons or traveling to Manilla.

 

Mr. Struve has been married to his wife Brenda for twenty-eight years and has

two children. His son David graduated from Manning in May, 2004 and is

currently attending Northwest Missouri State University in

Maryville, Mo. His daughter Kelli is currently fifteen years old

and will be in the 10th grade in Manning this coming fall.
