The Academy began as a joint venture
between the Manning, IKM, and ArWeVa school districts to provide dual credit
(high
school and college)
courses to seniors
from the three districts. ArWeVa withdrew from the
joint venture after the 2005-2006 school year. Under the current design,
courses are being offered in English Composition I & II, General Psychology,
Developmental Psychology, Western Civilizations I & II, and Speech I. Students
have the opportunity to earn up to 19 college credits through academy classes.
The
classes
are taught
by IKM-Manning high school staff, or by DMACC adjunct instructors. The academy
location was shared back and forth between the IKM and Manning High Schools
until the 2008-2009 school year when IKM and Manning began whole grade sharing,
with all high school students attending in Manning.
