COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will give the students a better understanding of the human body. They will study tissues, organs, and systems of the human. They will then use the fetal pig to observe these organs and systems first hand.

COURSE BENCHMARKS:

Benchmark 1: Apply the vocabulary of anatomy

Benchmark 2: Classify human tissues.

Benchmark 3: Demonstrate knowledge of six human systems.

Benchmark 1: Apply the vocabulary of anatomy

1. Use vocabulary words in unfamiliar situations.

2. Differentiate between levels of organization.

3. Arrange organs into the body cavities.

Benchmark 2: Classify human tissues. 

1. Explain characteristics of the four types of tissues.

2. Compare the subdivisions of each type of tissues.

Benchmark 3: Demonstrate knowledge of six human systems. 

1. Name the different parts of each system.

2. Compare different organs of the same system

3. Create a presentation to elementary students.
