Cruisin to the Southeast Title

Pre-Tour Information

Gas Filler Up

In addition to using books and magazines to find out about Southeast Region, we're going to use the power of the Internet. So fill up your gas tank and pack your bags, we're cruisin' to the southeast region of the United States! As we drive through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida we'll look for historical landmarks. We'll learn about the geography and economy of this region of the states. Ever wondered what types of crops are grown down south? Do you think that corn and soybeans are grown everywhere in the United States or just in Iowa?

Items you will need to bring with you:
•Journal to keep track of your notes and progress
•iBooks to complete your Internet research
•Social Studies book for reference
•Any library resources available on the southeast region

In groups of 4 or 5 you will explore several websites and keep track of the important information that you find in your journal or tour guide book. You will work various activities that you will be asked to work on individually and others you will be working in your group. Your final project will be for your group to put together a slide presentation about the southeast region that you will present to prospective clients wishing to tour the southeast.

Within your group you will each be assigned to be an expert on areas of interests of the states in the southeast region that you're assigned to.

Tour Guide Book (Journal)

Each day you are to record important facts that you find about the southeast region that you can use for your projects. Be sure to label each entry with the current date and write neatly. You should also respond to each of the following statements each day. 1. What did I learn? 2. What do I still need help with? Or What problems am I having with this project or with my tour group? 3. What did I relearn today?
